Celebrating National Bird Week 2024
As dedicated birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts, Jungle Buddies Tour celebrated National Bird Week, also known as Pakshi Saptah, with a series of events throughout the Mumbai region in the first week of November 2024. From welcoming winter migrants to exploring the city’s hidden bird havens, our mission was to connect fellow bird lovers with the rich avian biodiversity of our region while creating unforgettable travel memories.
Events Highlights Here’s a look at how we made the most of this special week:
Private Bird Walk at Karnala Bird Sanctuary
We kicked off the celebrations with a Private Bird Walk at Karnala Bird Sanctuary. Mr. Ashutosh and his colleague joined us to welcome the winter migrants who flock to the sanctuary during this season. The rich variety of species observed left everyone in awe. The tranquil surroundings and the soothing sounds of nature made it the perfect start to National Bird Week.
Free Bird Walk at Kopar Wetlands
Next, we hosted a Free Bird Walk at the Kopar Wetlands, an ecosystem teeming with life. This event focused on exploring shorebirds and other passerines, offering participants a unique opportunity to engage with nature. The response was fantastic, as many budding birdwatchers took their first steps into the world of birding.

A Quest for Raptors and Buntings: Group Tour to Sri Malang Gad (Haji Malang Hills)
Next, we ventured into the majestic Sri Malang Gad, also known as Haji Malang Hills. This picturesque location is a hotspot for raptors and shrubland birds. Our Jungle Buddies Birding Expert Milind Ganatra led a group of nature enthusiasts on an exhilarating exploration, teaching them about these magnificent birds and their unique behaviours.

To round off our celebrations, we hosted a presentation on Mumbai Wingscape at the renowned Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Udyan & Zoo (Mumbai Zoo). The presentation covered various bird species native to Mumbai, their habitats, and conservation efforts. It was a fantastic opportunity for participants to expand their knowledge and appreciation of local avian life.
Private Bird Walk at Karnala Bird Sanctuary (Again!)
Continuing the spirit of National Bird Week, we arranged another Private Bird Walk at Karnala Bird Sanctuary for our travellers Mr. Knut and Ms. Wenche from the Netherlands. They experienced the beauty of the sanctuary firsthand, further highlighting our commitment to creating lasting travel memories for visitors from around the world.
