This special event is designed to introduce enthusiasts to the art and science of wildlife photography. Not only will you learn from industry experts, but you will also get a rare, hands-on opportunity to test-drive brand-new camera models provided by Sony! Whether you are a budding enthusiast or looking to sharpen your technical knowledge, this masterclass offers an unparalleled learning experience right in the heart of the city.

The Experience: Theory Meets Hands-On Practice

The event is divided into insightful indoor learning and exciting on-field practice.

You will learn the secrets of the craft from Abhishek Satam, an award-winning photographer and wildlife biologist, followed by a deep dive into mastering photography techniques with official Sony Mentors. Finally, you will step out into the zoo campus to put your newly learned skills to the test with Sony’s latest gear.

The Itinerary

  • 09:30 AM: Assemble at the Mumbai Zoo Auditorium (located near the Penguin Enclosure).

  • 09:45 AM – 10:30 AM: The Art of the Shot. A 45-minute presentation on the basics of wildlife photography by award-winning photographer & wildlife biologist Abhishek Satam.

  • 10:30 AM – 11:10 AM: Mastering the Gear. A 30 to 40-minute session led by a Sony Mentor covering advanced photography techniques and an introduction to Sony’s latest camera models.

  • 11:15 AM Onwards: In-Field Practice. Step out into the zoo campus for an in-person, hands-on photography session guided by the Sony Mentors, using the new Sony cameras.

How to Reach

  • By Train (Nearest Station): Alight at Byculla Station (Central Line). The zoo entrance is just a short 5 to 10-minute walk from the station’s East exit.

  • By Road: Located in Byculla East, the zoo is easily accessible via the Eastern Express Highway or Dr. B. Ambedkar Road. Paid parking is available near the zoo premises, but public transport is highly recommended due to weekend traffic.

What to Bring

  • A personal SD Card (so you can take the photos you shoot on the Sony cameras home with you).

  • Your own camera gear (optional, but good for comparison and practice).

  • Comfortable walking shoes for the in-field zoo session.

  • A notepad and pen for the auditorium sessions.
