Jungle Buddies began its journey in 2011 with Bird of Thane & Raigad District (BOTRD), a community focused on developing a network of birdwatchers in the Mumbai metropolitan region. Our mission was to help each other identify bird species and organize free bird walks, awareness programmes, and online webinars. With over a decade of experience, we have expanded our services to offer personalized private and small-group birding tours through Jungle Buddies.

Prathamesh Desai
As the founder of Jungle Buddies Tours—your one-stop solution for Mumbai Birding—Prathamesh Desai merges professional knowledge with infectious passion. Holding an MSc in Biodiversity Wildlife Conservation Management and an MBA in Tourism Management, his background ensures every trip is scientifically rich and flawlessly executed.
Prathamesh has been an active birder since 2010, transforming his lifelong hobby into a career dedicated to creating incredible memories. He has personally led over 1000 nature trails in the Mumbai Region and guided explorers to witness local wildlife across India and Kenya. His work is respected throughout the community, earning him the role of Regional Reviewer for Maharashtra for the eBird India Portal.
His experience goes deep into conservation: from studying animal behavior in Sloth Bears and Elephants to spearheading the first leopard camera trapping census in the Yeoor Range of SGNP, Thane. When he’s not in the field, Prathamesh shares his insights, with his birding contributions regularly featured in national news and interviews on Doordarshan.
