Tucked away near the outskirts of the city, the dense, deciduous patches of Barvi Hills are a well-kept secret among seasoned birders. As the pre-monsoon clouds begin to gather, this forest comes alive with the calls of some of the most vibrant and sought-after avian species in the region.

Join us for a highly exclusive Bird Photography Tour to Barvi Hills, led by Jungle Buddies Expert Rajesh Poojary. Designed specifically for bird photographers, this trail is all about patience, positioning, and capturing the perfect shot in the beautiful natural light of the canopy.

The Experience: Intimate and Focused

Unlike regular bird walks, this tour is strictly limited to an intimate Group of 5 + 1 Expert Leader. This small group size ensures minimum disturbance to the wildlife, maximum stealth, and dedicated time for each participant to set up their gear and get the perfect frame. Rajesh will guide you on field craft, tracking calls, and understanding the lighting in the dense woods.

Target Species (The Forest Jewels)

The Barvi Hills are home to a spectacular variety of forest birds, making it a true photographer’s paradise. As you explore the dense deciduous patches, you will be tracking vibrant pre-monsoon specials alongside a rich diversity of resident avian life. Crested Serpent Eagle, Jungle Owlet, Brown Hawk Owl, Plum Headed Parakeet, Brown Headed Barbet, Vigors Sunbird, Indian Peafowl, Rufous Woodpecker, Rufous Treepie, Golden Fronted Leafbird, and Common Woodshrike are some of the resident birds that can be seen throughout the year.

The Itinerary

06:30 AM: Meet Jungle Buddies Expert Rajesh Poojary at Badlapur Railway Station (West).
06:35 AM – 07:00 AM: Drive from Badlapur to the Barvi Forest (approx. 20-30 minutes) in a comfortable AC vehicle.
07:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Dedicated Bird Photography Session in the dense patches of the Barvi Forest.
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Conclude the photography session with our traditional group selfie and enjoy a delicious, traditional Barvi breakfast.
11:00 AM onwards: Drive back to Badlapur Train Station for your onward journey.

How to Reach

Suggested Public Transport: We highly recommend taking the 4:47 AM Karjat Slow Local starting from CSMT (Central Line). This train arrives at Badlapur Station at exactly 6:34 AM, perfectly timed for our assembly.
By Personal Vehicle: In case you wish to travel in a personal vehicle directly up to the Barvi Forest, you can certainly do so and park the vehicle within the forest premises (Note: Parking is at your own risk).
