Birding in Matheran Hill Station

Following the success of our recent Dusk birding tour at Matheran Hills, Jungle Buddies Tours hosted another tour on 26th May 2024. The weather was more intense this time, with a high number of mosquitoes and the water level at the major waterholes reduced to 50%. Despite this, bird activity was at its peak. Orange-headed thrushes were seen bullying the Indian Blackbirds, and a lone Malabar whistling thrush was guarding a waterhole, not allowing anyone else to approach. The Niligiri wood pigeon was not active this time, but the Brown wood Owl made its presence known with its unique flying skills in the dense canopy. Our travellers left with wonderful memories and some amazing photographs.
