To kick off 2025, Jungle Buddies hosted a free Raptor Watch tour at the renowned Mumbra Devi Temple hill, inviting fellow bird enthusiasts to embrace their passion for birding. As we ascended the temple steps, the air buzzed with anticipation, and the vibrant Purple Sunbird became our first avian companion.

Reaching the temple premises, we were treated to a breathtaking display of aerial acrobatics of Dusky crag martins in high numbers. Our first encounter was with a resident Shaheen Falcon, a powerful subspecies of the Peregrine Falcon. We were fortunate to witness this breeding pair, likely the undisputed rulers of this mountain range for over a decade, engage in a rare mating ritual – a truly unforgettable sight for all participants.

Throughout the morning, we observed a variety of raptors, including Greater Spotted Eagle, white-eyed Buzzard, Booted Eagle and Common Buzzard. This free Raptor Watch tour provided a wonderful opportunity for the Jungle Buddies community to come together and celebrate the start of the new year with a shared passion for birdwatching.
