Manori Hills: Forest, Scrub & Shoreline Birding – A Diverse Habitat on Mumbai’s Northern Edge

Manori Hills, spanning the area between Manori and Gorai, represents one of the most accessible and ecologically diverse birding destinations on the northern edge of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). This destination offers a crucial mix of three distinct habitats, providing an excellent range of sightings, particularly during the peak winter migratory season.

This combination of ecosystems ensures a dynamic birding experience, where you can easily transition from sighting a forest bird to watching a shorebird

What to Expect

Manori is a fantastic spot to observe resident and winter migratory species alike. Our guided tours here aim to cover all three habitats to maximise your list.

  • Expert guidance to help you with identification and field observation skills.
  • An intimate learning experience with a small group of 5 travellers + 1 Jungle Buddies Expert.

Tour Plan – 23 November 2025

  • Meet-up: Meet Jungle Buddies Expert Mr Ramesh Shenai at Palm Beach Resort at 7.30 AM.
  • Birding Session: Spend the morning birding on the hills until 10:30 AM.
  • Conclude the walk with a group picture and happy memories with Jungle Buddies.

Pricing & Logistics

Price: INR 700 per person.

Group Size: Limited to a small group of 5 + 1 (expert) for a personalised session.

Nearest Railway Station: Borivali Station (Western Railways)

How to Reach:

1) Malad (West) – Reach Marve jetty and cross over to Manori Jetty (bike can also be taken, but nota  car) …. from here take an auto to reach Palm Beach resort

2) Gorai – Reach Gorai Jetty and cross over to Gorai Jetty Point (bike can also be taken, but not a car). From here, take an auto to reach Palm Beach Resort (long route)

3) By Car – You can come by car from the road via Uttan Bhayandar. 

Alternatively, one can take their vehicle up to Gorai or Marve Jetty and park the vehicle somewhere before taking the ferry to cross over (for points 1 & 2 above).
