Birding Extravaganza! Exploring Tansa and Matheran with Jungle Buddies
What a birding bonanza! This past weekend, Jungle Buddies Tours embarked on exciting adventures at two stunning locations: the cool, verdant hills of Matheran and the vibrant Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary. Led by our expert guides, Rajesh Poojary and Prathamesh Desai, our fellow bird enthusiasts enjoyed a whirlwind of sightings and unforgettable memories.
Matheran’s avian symphony: In Matheran, the cooler temperatures provided the perfect backdrop for a symphony of feathered friends. Warblers flitted through the branches, flycatchers flashed their vibrant hues, and sunbirds sipped nectar with dazzling grace. A rare Nilgiri Wood Pigeon, seeking refreshment at a water body, added a touch of magic to the day. Our “Jungle Buddies” were busy snapping photos for three glorious hours, capturing the essence of this avian paradise.

Tansa’s elusive treasure: Deep within Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary, the quest for a legendary creature unfolded. The Forest Owlet, once thought extinct, was rediscovered in 1997 and has since graced various states with its presence. Just as hope seemed to fade, the telltale call echoed through the trees, leading us to a magical sight: two Forest Owlets perched together, a rare and awe-inspiring moment. Our “Jungle Buddies” were thrilled to witness this incredible encounter, a testament to the wonders hidden within nature.
