Join Jungle Buddies on a specialized walk designed to help you master the art of identifying shorebirds, one of the most exciting aspects of bird watching. This tour is part of our Back to Basics (B2Bs) series, focusing purely on skill-building and learning.

About the Birding Site

The historic Vasai-Virar (VIVA) region, with its Portuguese colonial past, offers a unique tapestry of habitats for bird enthusiasts. From the serene shores of Arnala Beach to the lush evergreen forests of Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, the area attracts a wide variety of avian species. The shoreline of Arnala Beach is a particularly rewarding site, teeming with waders, gulls, and terns as they journey across continents.This walk will focus on the intertidal zone, where you’ll get a firsthand look at the fascinating behaviors and physical characteristics of shorebirds. It’s the perfect environment for both learning and photography.

Tour Plan – 28 September 2025

  • Meet-up: Meet Jungle Buddies Expert Mr. Amol Lopes at Mamachi Wadi Resort at 7.30 AM.
  • Birding Session: Spend the morning birding across the shoreline until 10:00 AM.
  • Conclude the walk with a group picture and happy memories with Jungle Buddies.

Price: INR 800 per person.

Group Size: Limited to a small group of 5 + 1 (expert) for a personalized session.

Nearest Railway Station: Virar Station.

How to Reach: Take a private auto or an Ola/Uber service to Mamachi Wadi Resort. Public buses are available to JyotiMata Church stop, but a 20-minute walk is required from there.
